Mayou Trikerioti trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after finishing her BA hons in Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Kent.
Mayou is one of Greece's most established theatre designers. She has worked at all the country's major theatres and festivals including the National Theatre in Athens and the Ancient theatre of Epidavros.
She now lives in London where she has recently designed the tour of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin for Neil Laidlow Productions and the Curve and the Rose Theatres, Macbeth at the Garrick, Man for the Young Vic, Blue Jasmine at Diana Theatre, Athens and Lysistrata at the Ancient Amphitheatre of Epidavros
She works on all scales grand and small, and her portfolio ranges from plays that enjoyed successful runs of two-three years to one-off, site-specific performances. She also enjoys working on community art projects that engage and/or workshop with the local youth and residents.
Production & Costume Design:
Since 2007 Mayou has designed feature and short films that have traveled across the globe and screened at international film festivals, including Venice Film Festival, Berlin and Toronto IFF.
Most recently she designed costumes for Dark Crimes, directed by Venice Silver Lion winner Alexandros Avranas, dressing amongst others Jim Carrey, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Agata Kulesza before dipping her toes into Iranian cinema, joining Sepideh Farsi again for her next feature, I Will Cross Tomorrow and Siamak Etemadi for his first Feature Pari, featuring the amazing Melika Forurtan.
Future plans include:
Captain Corelli’s Mandolin (Harold Pinter Theatre), Twelfth Night (The Scoop at More London), Aqua Alta (Luxembourg), Antigone (North Wall Theatre, Oxford) Once Upon a Mattress (Playground Theatre), We Will Breathe Later (Production Design, Feature Film). Pari and I Will Cross Tomorrow (Costume Designer, Feature Films) have just finished post production.
Change of Art:
Mayou is one of the founding members and co-artistic directors of Change of Art, a community arts project created by a group of theatre practitioners and artists who came together through shared activism.
