Brexit / by Mayou Trikerioti

The SBTD is fighting back on Brexit, on all things that have changed for the better in the last 20 years.

I tried working between countries and cross border in the early 2000s.. The EU made it possible, but sending my CV and images of my work to another EU country was not as easy as it is today.

At a time when interviews equalled a tube ride, little me + my leather portfolio from London Graphic Centre, I had to make up a basic html site, burn CDs with images and send them through post. Cheap red-eye flights were meant for students, not for professionals.

In the years to follow, open borders teamed up with technology aided this melting pot that gets bigger and bigger and has truly facilitated determination and made working bordereless possible on every level.

So now I find myself in Athens filming an Iranian film, in Lesbos filming a French film whilst collaborating with the Brussels based director-choreographer Tara D'Arquian on her Belgian/UK co-production Bad Faith which opened at the Laban Centre.

The design world has changed so much it has become more global and wonderful. It must not fold back on itself or stay split between film and theatre.
