goodbye to a teacher / by Mayou Trikerioti

..all my life I have been in doubt of my own capabilities.
(whilst deluding myself that this pushes me forward).

One person that never doubted my painting and art skills encouraging me to go to art school: Mary Hatzinikoli. Artist, ceramist, art TEACHER.
MY art teacher in high school.
I never went to art school. I knew what I wanted to do.

Still, I have kept drawing and painting, infrequently, for pleasure, work or to teach my daughter tricks.

And Mrs Hatzinikoli has been almost always there, in the the back of my head, telling me that speed has nothing to do with it. It’s the end product that counts.

I just saw she passed away.
She will remain my Jimini Cricket every time I pick up a brush. Let light perpetual shine upon her.
