I Am Joan is a one woman show.

A hopeful comedy about a woman in recovery from trauma finding empowerment by connecting with various inspiring Joans, such as Joan Collins, Joan Jett and Joan of Arc, all of whom embody elusive qualities of resilience and self-belief.

Think Dynasty meets Joan of Arc with lashings of cherry bakewells, a heavy dose of glam rock and tissues for all at the end. Irreverent, laugh out loud, hold your breath and weep silently; this show will stay with you long after you watch it.

Beautifully performed by Viv Gordon winner of Judge's Prize at Arts in Health South West 2015.

Η Popaganda στο Βερολίνο: Πώς πέρασαν τα ελληνικά ταλέντα στο Φεστιβάλ;

Μπορεί στις φετινές προβολές η Ελλάδα να ήταν άφαντη, το κινηματογραφικό της μέλλον όμως δήλωσε παρόν στο Berlinale Talents, την πλατφόρμα του φεστιβάλ που εντοπίζει, δικτυώνει κι αναδεικνύει ταλέντα απ’ όλον τον κόσμο.

Οπότε τι έχουν τελικά να ζηλέψουν οι δικοί μας απ’ τους ξένους; «Αυτό που έχουν πολύ αναπτυγμένο οι ξένοι, είναι το concept του ατζέντη ας πούμε», παραδέχεται ο Νικούλη. «Του μάνατζερ, του casting director, όλα αυτά. Το πώς δηλαδή πρέπει ο ίδιος ο ηθοποιός να μπει μέσα σ’ αυτό το παιχνίδι και να κυνηγήσει μια δουλειά: Ήξεραν ποιον θα προσεγγίσουν και πώς» καταλήγει, και σ’ αυτό φαίνεται να συμφωνούν όλοι τους. Αυτό συνοψίζει τελικά κι η Μαγιού Τρικεριώτη, σκηνογράφος με πλούσια θεατρική εμπειρία σε Ελλάδα και Αγγλία, και την νέα ταινία του Αλέξανδρου Αβρανά με πρωταγωνιστή τον Jim Carrey, ως πιο πρόσφατο κινηματογραφικό της credit: «Για να είμαστε εδώ, όλοι κάτι έχουμε κάνει, δεν είδαμε φως και μπήκαμε. Όλοι όσοι είναι εδώ είναι από ένα επίπεδο και πάνω, έχουμε τη δουλειά μας πίσω μας, και περάσαμε και μια διαδικασία για να έρθουμε εδώ. Οπότε είτε πάρεις κάτι, είτε όχι, απ’ τα εργαστήρια, και τα σεμινάρια κι όλα αυτά, το βέβαιο είναι μπαίνεις σε ένα δίκτυο. Στο οποίο σε επέλεξαν, και τον τίτλο του οποίου θα τον φέρεις για πάντα. Κι όλοι όσοι τον φέρουν μαζί μ’ εσένα, κάτι θα σημαίνει γι’ αυτούς, όποτε σε γνωρίζουν στην πορεία της καριέρας σου. Όπως θα σημαίνει κάτι και για σένα».

22 UK professionals selected for the 14th edition of Berlinale Talents

300 emerging film and drama series professionals have been selected for the 14th edition of Creative Europe-supported Berlinale Talents, including 22 from the UK. 

The selected group was chosen from a pool of 2,761 applicants from over 130 countries, and is comprised of writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, actors, editors, distributors, production designers, composers, sound designers and film journalists.

Funded through the MEDIA sub-programme’s Training scheme, participants take part in a six-day programme during the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) that features over 100 events, including expert-led masterclasses and workshops, panel discussions, project labs and studio programmes. 

Festival Director Dieter Kosslick commented: “These 300 young film creatives aspire to be the best in their fields. 58 filmmakers have already been involved in films at previous Berlinale editions. Berlinale Talents is the ideal platform to support new talent.”
